Mobirise

I extend my warm and hearty welcome to all of you who have joined G.C. Paul College of Education with high hopes and aspirations. May we live up to your expectations and guide you in your path to glory. I also extend my greetings to all the faculty members and other associated members of this Parivar, whose good wishes, help and cooperation have helped in shaping this institution. Here I would like to put on record my extreme gratefulness to the Vice Chancellor Assam University, Silchar Prof Somnath Dasgupta, whose goodwill has made this day possible.

My sincere thanks goes to Sri Gautam Roy, the then Minister of Assam, Sri L.M.Suklabaidya, the then Member of Parliament, Dr. Bhibas Dev, the then Director, College Development Council, Assam University, Silchar, my dearest MLA Kripanath Mallah and loving MLA Kamalakhshya Dey Purkayastha, all of whom have extended their ever helping hand.

G. C. Paul College of Education, an educational trust, constituted under Indian Trust Act 1882 on 09-09-2011 came into being on 12th January, 2012. It was set up to commemorate my father late Gouranga Chandra Paul whose life was a mission to work for the marginalized and less advantaged section of the society. The day also coincides with birth date of Swami Vivekananda, the great Saint, Seer and Architect of modern India.

To highlight now on the place and demographic structure of the region I would like to state that Dharanala, adjacent to Ramkrishna Nagar town, is a land of unbounded natural beauty and scenic magnificence. The hilly tracks of the region and the nearby lush green tea gardens stretching out add to its grandeur. The overview of the area makes one quote Dryden’s comment “Here is God’s plenty”.

Let me now retrace my steps to the days when I had a dream to develop the educational scope of this vast area Ratabari constituency. After my retirement from Ramkrishna Nagar College, rendering about 39 years of unbreakable service, out of which I served as Principal in the college for glorious 12 years. After retirement I thought it is the right time to plunge into the task of fulfilling the dream. I, therefore Started the work to establish a B. Ed college, which was a long pending demand of the people of this constituency. The journey was very tough, and many hurdles came by , but time was short. Ultimately our dream became a reality. On 19th June/2015 Assam University, silchar kindly accorded affiliation to G. C. Paul College of Education. I am very much thankful to the authorities of National Council for Teacher Education, (A statutory body of Govt. of India.) Government of Assam (Edn. department), College Development Council & Education department of Assam University, Silchar.

Our motto—‘Quality Education for All in a Secure and loving Environment’, sums up the ethos, commitment and mission of the academy fraternity. It has been sincerely hoped that the institution will bring radical changes in the socio-cultural environment, in the near future, as fulfillment of aspirations and dreams, are a far cry for the people of this remote and economically deprived area. With this mission, vision and social commitment, G. C. Paul College of Education is all set to face the future challenges and is devoted to put in their best efforts for a brighter and beautiful morrow.

Once again I greet the new-comers, guardians, well wishers and faculty members whose co-operation is highly solicited for shaping this institute.

I hope, the Principal ,learned Jayanta Choudhury ,students, the teaching and non-teaching staff of G. C. Paul College of Education will comprehend and appreciate the higher dream of education of late G. C. Paul and materialize his dream by turning the college into a front ranking B. Ed degree college of Assam. Let us then all strive and join hands to make G. C. Paul College of Education into a model B. Ed College of Assam. I have full reliance upon the members of the trust, management, teachers and the employees of the College in making all dreams come true.

The rest are in God’s hands.
